ceramic sculptures-additions to clay bodies
I usually work on the edge between sculptures and installations. These works, are made of ceramics and other materials, like wire, textile and paper. I do experiment with materials, to see how much I can push the limits of their physicality, and how it influence the visual aesthetics of the piece.
Cotton cloth, soaked in liquid porcelain , wrapped around a wire. Fired at 1280 Celsius. Different type of metal wire, behaves differently when fired. Cotton is burn away, and leaves fragile shell of porcelain.
This piece was made by painting each page of a book, with liquid clay (stoneware) then fired at 1260 Celsius. Paper includes kaolin, so often pieces of “paper” are still visible after firing. They are thin as dust, and easily fall apart.
Different type of paper gives different results, even when using the same liquid clay.
